Project Overview

• What it is: A cross-city rail link for Gothenburg consisting of about 8 km of track including roughly 6 km of tunnel, built to increase capacity and shorten travel times for commuter and regional trains.
• Stations: Three new underground stations — Centralen (under the main station), Haga, and Korsvägen.
• Official construction start: Groundbreaking / official start ceremony 30 May 2018 (preparatory work and planning began earlier).
• Planned openings / delivery timeline: full traffic through the tunnel is currently expected around 2030

  • Original estimate (2009 price level): ~SEK 20 billion.
